“I believe the drum is the heartbeat of the native american people and without a drumstick that heartbeat wouldn't be so I will use the gift the creator has given me to keep that heartbeat strong with my drumsticks. Every Drumstick is different, the hardness of the head depends on the type of hide you’re using, I'm a Northern plains Native and we have soft heads because we use mainly deer hide for our drums. As you go farther towards the southern plains, they used thicker hides so they required harder heads made of buckskin. Another is Sioux style Drumsticks with the puffy heads, usually it was goat hide with the fur still on for a softer sound."
