Rattles-Turtle Shell and Rawhide Shakers

Each and every Rattle is a masterpiece, no two are the same.These designs were created by Rudy, from the"handle attachment to the beading. No one else uses this design. You are getting the finest quality the most solid structure and the best sound! And best of all, no glue is used. It doesn't need it. Everything is done in the old style. Rudy's Rattles have been used in ceremonial sweats, Long house as well as Sacred Dances.Every single Rattle has the the four sacred medicines added to the pouch. To ensure only good thoughts went into the the rattle, Rudy places a piece of burning sage into the chamber before it's sealed shut. If you have a sacred or special something, Rudy will also add that to the rattle, making it truly yours.

Rudy's Rattles are primitive in nature and design. They are to be admired and shared with the spirits, they don't just sing, but also dance. Rudy TwoMoon creates art that is Primitive, bold and Beautiful.

“It’s been also 20 years since I started making Turtle Shell Medicine Pouches and the designs have come a long way. These Turtles showed me what they want. They trained me to keep the integrity of the turtle and never waste any part. I have always been offended that people throw away the breast plate to put the bag or pouch in. I always thought that was so dumb. This is how you pay respect to something that gave you its body. The turtle showed me how to properly create a hinged lid, so it opens, closes and locks. Because I listened, they shared many other secrets like turtle webbing. That’s the stitching you see on the bottom that looks kinda like a web. They also showed me the proper way to attach the handle when making a rattle. I only use turtles that have been used for food. It’s a shame to waste any part of the turtle. I am so humbled and honored to have the turtle’s presence and teaching in my life.”

All feathers were supplied by the customers, Rudy does not supply songbird or raptor feathers....EVER! If you do want feathers, you will receive goose and duck feathers bred for foods from local farms.
